Premier League 2020-21 Preview: West Bromwich Albion vs Liverpool

Following their comeback victory over the hosts Manchester United Fc in the Premier League, Liverpool Fc (The Reds) are due to play against the hosts West Bromwich Albion Fc in the Premier League.

Date: 16 May 2021 (Sunday) ; Time: 4:30 p.m (BST) kick-off ; Venue: The Hawthorns, West Bromwich, England.

By benching Sadio Mané for the Manchester United Fc away clash, Jürgen Klopp may have provided some clues on the possible line-up for the away encounter with West Bromwich Albion Fc (The Baggies).

Also, the Gaffer will hope some of the injured Players might also return back in action while resting few Players that were deployed for the rescheduled Manchester United Fc away clash.

In addition; Players like Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Divock Origi, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Curtis Jones, Rhys Williams and so on might also be considered.

The Reds has not faced the hosts Baggies since April 2018 and that game resulted in a 2-2 draw (April 2018) as a deflected shot from Divock Origi in the 95th-minute strike rescued a point for the Reds against a resolute hosts Baggies.

Also, the last time Reds faced the visitors Baggies resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Reds Team Injuries and Suspensions: Prior to the Southampton Fc home encounter; Ozan Kabak, James Milner, Naby Keïta and Ben Davies were sidelined due to unspecified minor injury concerns. The Club will hope that the injured Quartet (especially Kabak) will recover in time for the next game.

Despite stepping up his rehabilitation; Captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign, after undergoing successful corrective surgery on the adductor injury sustained during the Everton Fc home game. The Skipper now faces race against time to be fit before the England National Team Squad is announced for the postponed Euro 2020.

Joël Matip has been sidelined out for the remainder of the Season after sustaining ankle ligament damage during the Tottenham Hotspur Fc away clash. The Cameroonian has taken a significant step on the road to full recovery and with the hope of returning to the side during the Preseason.

After undergoing successful surgeries on their injured knees, Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk are currently working on regaining full fitness.

Unlike Henderson, Gomez most likely will not be part of the England National Team and Van Dijk has informed his decision not to be part of the Netherlands National Squad for the postponed Euro 2020 as the Dutchman intends to continue working on regaining full fitness with the view returning to the side during the Preseason.

Verdict: The Baggies has so far been a plucky team to beat for the Reds and after being relegated following their away loss to Arsenal Fc, the Baggies will look to play with more freedom.

The Baggies Manager Sam Allardyce also has a formidable record facing the Reds and the Teams managed by him have always proven difficult to overcome.

For the Reds though they will feel more confident and energetic following their comeback win over the hosts Manchester United Fc.

On paper, the Reds last 3 games seems winnable but the Reds have typically struggled against Teams in the bottom half of the Premier League table this Season.

Winning their last 3 games in all likelihood would secure the top-four berth for the Reds but whatever happens after the next fixture, the race for the top-four most likely might go down to the wire (which is the final day of the Season).

The Reds however would only need to blame themselves for failing to seize the initiative with both hands to clinch the top-four berth earlier as they have done so many times this campaign.
