Premier League 2020-21 Preview: Manchester United vs Liverpool

After being held to a 1-1 draw by the visitors Newcastle United Fc in the Premier League, Liverpool Fc (The Reds) are set to play in the Premier League against the hosts Manchester United Fc.

Date: 02 May 2021 (Sunday) ; Time: 4:30 p.m (BST) kick-off ; Venue: Manchester, England.

With not many games remaining in the campaign and the Champions League spot at stake; Jürgen Klopp most likely will retain most of the Players that faced the visitors Newcastle United Fc.

Still; Players like Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keïta, Curtis Jones, Rhys Williams, Neco Williams and so on might play some part in the upcoming Premier League away fixture with Manchester United Fc (The Red Devils).

In terms of recent meetings between the two sides; the Reds has an abysmal record against the hosts Red Devils; the Reds are yet to beat the Red Devils at Old Trafford (since March 2014) and the Reds also were narrowly beaten by the hosts Red Devils in the FA Cup 2020-21 Fourth Round (when the two sides last met).

Reds Team Injuries and Suspensions: Due to a minor hamstring issue prior to the Leeds United away fixture; Nathaniel Phillips has since remained absent but his fitness is being monitored by the Club. The Englishman however might be selected for the upcoming fixture as the Reds will subject him to a fitness test.

After sustaining an unspecified muscle injury prior to the Wolverhampton Wanderers Fc away game; Divock Origi has since been ruled out.

Also; Young Goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher has been sidelined for an indeterminate period due to an unspecified injury that seems to be a stomach muscle tear.

Captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out possibly for the rest of the campaign as the skipper underwent a successful corrective surgery on the adductor injury sustained during the Everton Fc home encounter.

After sustaining ankle ligament damage during the Tottenham Hotspur Fc away clash; Joël Matip has been sidelined out for the remainder of the Season. However; the Cameroonian International has taken a significant step on the road to full recovery as he was spotted running outside at the Reds Kirby Training Complex and to avoid the niggling injuries that have hampered his Anfield career in the last few Seasons; he will undergo a specialised programme.

Both Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk are currently working on regaining full fitness, after undergoing successful surgeries on their injured knees.

Yet; there has been no timescale been set on the return of the Matip, Gomez and Van Dijk by the Club as the Defensive Trio are unlikely to play this Season.

Verdict: The unavoidable fact for the Reds is their chances of securing a Top 4 spot now hanging barely by a thread following their draws in back-to-back Premier League games.

Unlike the Reds inconsistent and/ or under par performances this Season; the Red Devils under their Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær (surprisingly) looks set to secure the Second Spot in the Premier League Table (baring any epic collapse).

This Season, things has not been looking up for the Reds (especially due to their numerous untimely injuries to Key Players) but a win over the hosts Red Devils would surely bring back some of the lost confidence for the Reds.
