The Reds opted not to release Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino especially due to the travelling restrictions placed by the British Government that required anyone returning from COVID-19 ‘Red List’ Countries to Quarantine for 10 days.
In terms of the recent games between the two sides; in a one-sided affair, the Reds comprehensively beat the visitors Arsenal Fc 3-1 in the Premier League.
But after clinching the Premier League 2019-20 Title, the Reds took their foot off the gas and lost to the hosts Arsenal Fc (The Gunners) 2-1 in the Premier League.
Reds Team Injuries and Suspensions: Prior to the Wolverhampton Wanderers Fc away game, Divock Origi was ruled out due to an unspecified muscle injury but is expected to return back in action and be available for selection.
Due to a minor knock that seems to be a knee problem; Roberto Firmino was sidelined prior to the Fulham Fc home clash. The Brazilian is expected to be fully fit.
Captain Jordan Henderson was out of action until April 2021, after undergoing a successful corrective surgery on the adductor injury sustained during the Everton Fc home fixture. The Skipper is expected to return after the March International Break 2021 but is facing a race against time to be fit. His return will be a massive boost for the injury-ridden Reds.
After sustaining ankle ligament damage during the Tottenham Hotspur Fc away encounter, Joël Matip has been sidelined for the rest of the Season.
Defensive Stalwarts Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk are currently working on regaining full fitness after undergoing successful surgeries on their injured knees.
The Club has been reluctant to set any timescale on the return of the Defensive Trio as they are unlikely to play this Season.
Verdict: The Gunners and the Reds are facing contrasting problems of their own this campaign.
Blighted with frequent untimely injuries, the Reds Premier League Title defence epically collapsed while the Gunners under their Coach Mikel Arteta just were too inconsistent with their performances throughout this Season.
The upcoming fixture between the two sides will be hard to predict but the Reds simply can ill afford any slip ups. Both the Clubs faces a mountain to climb to secure European Spots for the next Season.
As such, the Reds and the Gunners will be aiming to secure their Europeans spots by trying to win their respective European Competitions that they are currently involved.
