Premier League 2020-21 Preview: Liverpool vs Manchester City

After losing to the visitors Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club, Liverpool Fc (The Reds) are scheduled to play in the Premier League against the visitors and League Leaders Manchester City Fc.

Date: 07 February 2021 (Sunday) ; Time: 4:30 p.m (BST) kick-off ; Venue: Anfield, England.

Newcomers Ben Davis and Ozan Kabak might feature for the crucial home encounter with Manchester City Fc.

Given the significance of the game, Jürgen Klopp might continue utilising the Team that lost to the visitors Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club.

The Club however will be hopeful for the return of some of the Senior Players for the Manchester City Fc (The Cityzens) home Fixture.

Historically, the Cityzens has never beaten the Reds at Anfield since May 2003 but that record could be under some serious threat.

With the new backline having to face against the Cityzens who are peaking form at the right time under their coach Pep Guardiola, the Reds surely will have their work cut out.

Reds Team Injuries and Suspensions: The Reds curse with injuries and untimely illnesses continued this Season as Alisson Becker was ruled out of the Brighton and Hove Albion Fc Home Fixture, due to an unspecified Illness. Everyone connected with the Club will hoping that the World Class Brazilian will not be sidelined for too long but the Brazilian remains a big doubt for the clash with the visitors Cityzens.

Due to minor muscle injury, Sadio Mané missed the last few games but the Club is hopeful that the Senegalese latest injury is expected to be only a short term issue and be fit in time for the Cityzens home Match.

Since missing the Tottenham Hotspur Fc away game, Fabinho was ruled out due to an unspecified minor muscle issue. Like Mané, the Club remains hopeful that the versatile Brazilian will be fit in time for the crucial home clash with Manchester City Fc.

Joël Matip is sidelined for the rest of the Season, after sustaining ankle ligament damage during the Tottenham Hotspur Fc away encounter.

Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk has stepped up their rehabilitation but they remain sidelined for an unspecified period, after undergoing successful surgeries on their injured knees.

The Defensive Trio are unlikely to play this Season.

Since sustaining a knee injury during the FC Midtjylland away clash; Diogo Jota has stepped up his rehabilitation and is edging closer to returning back in action.

After being ruled out due to a muscle related issue, Naby Keïta is also edging closer to his return.

Verdict: Against Klopp, Pep Guardiola has lost more number of times than he won as a Manager. Both Managers are proponents of Attacking Football.

Despite being a dull draw the last time two sides faced on November 2020, still for every Football Enthusiasts this is the game to watch as both sides will look to attack.

Yet; after suffering back-to-back home losses and injuries to several Key Players, the home clash with the Cityzens could not have come at a worse time.

The Cityzens are on the back of their unbeaten 13 game winning streak while the Reds are struggling to gain momentum.

Given the margin of lead held by the Cityzens, it looks very unlikely that they will lose 3-4 games and even if they lose at Anfield, that would not be a cause of concern for them.

But the win over the League Leaders Cityzens would be a huge boost of confidence for the Reds and rediscover their aura of invincibility especially at Anfield.
