FA Cup 2020-21 Preview: Manchester United vs Liverpool

After their shock 0-1 home loss to the visitors Burnley Fc in the Premier League, Liverpool Fc will set their sights next on playing against the hosts Manchester United Fc (The Red Devils) for the Fourth Round of the FA Cup 2020-21.

Date: 24 January 2021 (Sunday) ; Time: 5:00 p.m (BST) kick-off ; Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester, England.

Joël Matip return from his recent Adductor Injury has been massive boost for Liverpool Fc (The Reds) and the Cameroonian International started at Centre Back for the home clash with Burnley Fc (The Clarets).

Konstantinos Tsimikas was also named among the substitutes after recovering from his knee injury.

However for the upcoming game, there might be a possibility of Klopp naming the squad that comprises of the Reds Youth Academy Players like Caoimhín Kelleher, Rhys Williams, Nathaniel Phillips, Neco Williams and Curtis Jones.

In addition, the Players that did not start for the Clarets Home Clash like Roberto Firmino, Tsimikas and Takumi Minamino might also be included in the Starting XI.

The last time, the Reds faced the hosts Red Devils in an FA Cup Competition was back in January 2011 (FA Cup Competition 2010-11) when a Ryan Giggs’s Solitary Goal from the Penalty Spot in the second minute of the game knocked the Reds out of the Competition.

Reds Team Injuries and Suspensions: Due to an unspecified minor fitness issue, Captain Jordan Henderson was ruled out for the Burnley Fc Home Clash. The Reds will be hoping for the Englishman’s quick recovery.

After sustaining a knee injury during the Second Half of the FC Midtjylland away fixture, Diogo Jota has stepped up his rehabilitation but the Portuguese International is still few weeks away from full recovery.

Naby Keïta remains sidelined for the foreseeable future, due to a muscle related issue.

After undergoing successful surgeries on their injured knees, Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk remains sidelined for an indeterminate period.

The welcome news is that both Van Dijk and Gomez has stepped up their rehabilitation but are still a long way from regaining Full Fitness.

The Club has not put any timescale for the return of the Defensive Duo.

Verdict: The shock home loss to Burnley has ended the 68 game unbeaten home record for the Reds. But most worryingly, the Reds are currently on an downward spiral and having not scored a single Goal in the past 4 games besides not winning in their last 5 games.

Historically, the Red Devils has not lost to the Reds at home in the FA Cup Competitions in more than 50 years. With inexperienced youngsters, benchwarmers and out of form Players that would most likely make up the Team; the misery might continue at Old Trafford.

Klopp is unlikely to be backed by Fenway Sports Group (FSG) to bring in a much needed Backup Centre Back before the January Transfer Window 2021 closes.

At this rate, it would take a miracle to beat the Red Devils
