Champions League 2020-21 Preview: Atalanta BC v Liverpool

After winning their Premier League Home Match over West Ham United Fc, Liverpool Fc are due to play their Champions League 2020-21 Group D Match against the hosts Atalanta BC.

Date: 03 November 2020 (Tuesday) ; Time: 8:00 p.m (BST) kick-off ; Venue: Gewiss Stadium, Bergamo, Italy

After partnering with Joe Gomez in the FC Midtjylland Match, Liverpool Fc (The Reds) might continue to line-up the youngster Rhys Williams.

However, the Italian side Atalanta BC have built their reputation of being uncharacteristically an attack minded side. So if Joël Matip continues to be sidelined, Jürgen Klopp would be then forced to utilize Jordan Henderson as a Makeshift Centre Back.

Atalanta BC are on the back of winning their Serie A Match against the hosts FC Crotone (1-2) and drew 1-1 in their Champions League Home fixture against AFC Ajax.

Both the sides are yet to play against each other.

Reds Team Injuries and Suspensions: After missing the West Ham United Fc Home Match, the Reds will be hoping for the timely return of Joël Matip and the Cameroonian International was forced to miss the previous games due to his Leg muscle issue.

After sustaining a serious ACL injury during the Everton Fc away clash, Virgil Van Dijk had undergone a successful surgery last week and the Reds has not set a timescale on return of the influential Dutchman.

Another long-term absentee is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as the Englishman continues to be ruled out due to his Knee injury.

Despite missing out on the West Ham United Fc match, the Reds will be hoping for the timely return of Thiago Alcântara (knee injury), Konstantinos Tsimikas (thigh injury) and Naby Keïta (unspecified injury).

Verdict: The Reds have never faced Atalanta BC in the past but one can expect an entertaining match as both sides look to attack.

In the absence of Van Dijk and Matip, Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips had done commendable jobs to partner alongside with Joe Gomez.

Being the only recognized Player capable of playing as a Centre Back, Joe Gomez is the one in particular that needs to play well consistently. His Poor Headed Clearance in the West Ham Fc Match gave an early lead for the Visitors. The Reds simply cannot afford these kinds of errors against their upcoming oppositions (Atalanta BC and Manchester City Fc).
